OT100W(H): Spring 2020 Introduction to the Old Testament

 Each student is expected to write ONE initial post in this forum, creating your own discussion thread. Your posting should be approximately 250 words and is to address the questions below. The deadline for completing your posting is Thursday at 8:00 AM.

Both Collins and Sweeney (the author of the Introduction to Isaiah in NOAB5) claim that the book of Isaiah was actually written in three stages. Before you proceed with your post, make sure you understand what both authors mean by First Isaiah, Second Isaiah, and Third Isaiah. 

Collins claims that Isaiah 7 was referring to events in the time of its author (Sweeney makes the same claim in the NOAB5 annotations to Isaiah 7). When you read Isaiah 7, how convincing do you find this claim?
