O God, we have misappropriated your inheritance;
we have defiled your holy ground,
we have reduced the Earth to rubble.
The dead bodies of your servants are as food for the birds of the sky,
the flesh of the people you claimed for the host of viruses.
We have poured out blood like water
all around our globe,
and there is no space to bury the dead.
We are fearful of our neighbors
We have become objects of selfishness and mistrust
How long, O God? Will we be alone forever?
How long will we be separated?
Pour out your truth on the peoples
that do not understand you,
on the national leaders
that do not work towards your Kingdom;
Please come to us quickly.
For we now know we need you
Help us, God our Savior,
for the glory of your name;
deliver us and forgive our sins
for your name’s sake.
Why should we say,
“Where is our God?”
May the groans of the isolated come before you;
with your strength preserve those forced into danger.
Then we your people, the sheep of your pasture,
will praise you forever;
from generation to generation
we will proclaim your praise.
