This course examines instances of mysticism, one (varied) aspect of Christian spirituality, from the early centuries of the Church to the present. Students will read and analyze primary and secondary sources with special attention to their historical and theological contexts. Students will also engage in a variety of prayer practices chosen to complement the mystical writings under discussion.
